    The Summer Internship Program lasts approximately 10 weeks and is targeted to students entering the final year of their undergraduate or graduate education. After initial orientation, summer interns will join one of our business lines, each of which offers a unique opportunity to obtain core technical knowledge and professional skills in a diverse and global environment.

    Underwriting Analytics Internship Program

    The Analytics team comprises world class data scientists and business professionals who work together to act as a catalyst for evidence-based decision-making at AIG. In partnership with AIG’s businesses and functional areas, the team works to accelerate product and business innovations at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and global insurance (e.g. big data, machine learning and predictive analytics). The team deploys analytics to create sustainable competitive advantages for AIG while also improving lives by enhancing AIG’s insurance product offerings.

    • The Business Analyst’s mission is to generate greater evidence-based insights across AIG and to help balance the art of decision-making with science.
    • The ideal Business Analyst candidate is a problem solver, communicator, and team player who is diligent and results driven. Responsibilities may include: performing detailed data, statistical, or financial analyses; and creating compelling communications around those analyses for business cases or presentations.

    Summer interns establish goals with their managers during the first week, and the goals are measured at the mid and end points of the summer. Successful summer interns may be considered for full-time analyst positions to begin summer of 2019.

    Required:

    • Minimum grade point average of 3.5 (unofficial transcript required upon application)
    • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficient in the English language, including the ability to listen, understand, read and communicate effectively both in writing and verbally in a professional environment
    • Willing and able to learn and work independently with minimal supervision
    • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines
    • Minimum of 3 months of experience obtained through internships, academic projects, etc.
    • Comfortable with quantitative analysis and tools
    • Outstanding quantitative and research skills and proven data interpretation capabilities

    • Previous work experience
    • Demonstrated outstanding academic and extracurricular achievement
    • Possess strong analytical
    • Quantitative and interpersonal skills
    • Enthusiastic about and committed to the insurance industry
