Job Summary
A day in the life of CL and Ag Claims interns might include:
Captures information from multiple sources to gain understanding of trends within our claims
Review trends and create connections with value stream partners for action planning for improving business results
Consults with agents and internal partners. Recommends opportunities for business development and service capabilities
This role will be assisting the National Claims Operations organization to deliver data driven insights and solutions by analyzing data and performing root cause analysis across Commercial Lines. We provide these solutions by enabling aligned data-driven decisions, delivering objective analysis, and influencing business strategy. Presenting insightful recommendations, presentations, reports and documents to help with the use of data and information extracted.
Performing other duties as assigned
Participates in the management of business performance as part of the underwriting team.
Additional Considerations
About You
A successful Associate Claims Intern at Nationwide has:
Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Undergraduate studies in progress; completion of sophomore or junior year is preferred
Studies focused on Insurance, Actuarial, Risk Management, Mathematics, Accounting or a related field of study
Involvement in student activities and/or some work experience
3.0 GPA or higher is desired
Skills/Competencies
Basic insurance policies, practices, and procedures.
Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with peers and business partners
Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Planner
Analytical skills and natural curiosity and ability to ask probing questions
Ability to excel in a dynamic, changing and sometimes ambiguous environment
Ability to work independently and collaborate with on-site and virtual team environments
Gathers information from multiple sources to support assigned projects
Presentation skills for delivering analytical content to inform of trends, recommendations, and customer impacts
Works cooperatively and builds strong working relationships with value-stream partners, including claims, sales, underwriting, product and pricing and other associates to share and gather information necessary to complete work.
