    A Data Analyst in IT works to use data from our systems to help us make informed strategic decisions given the data available. Projects focus on gathering data in an automated fashion, establishing measures of performance, evaluating internal performance against the competitive landscape, and developing models to predict IT outcomes. Individuals who are likely to be successful in this role have a natural curiosity for how things work, a willingness to work with considerable ambiguity, and technical skills that will ease the effort for them to perform the work.

    For more software-development oriented individuals:

    • Experience with Excel, SQL, database table design is needed
    • Experience with another programming language (Java, C#, etc.) is a bonus
    • Willingness to learn vb.NET

    For statistics/machine learning oriented individuals:

    • Basic statistical techniques
    • Experience with visualization of data
    • Experience with tools for manipulating data: Excel, statistical software [R, Minitab, SPSS, Stata, etc.]
    • Experience with (or a willingness to learn) SQL for data extraction

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Current Freshman, Sophomore or Junior enrolled in a four-year Bachelor degree program
    • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
    • Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication
    • Demonstrated leadership skills gained from student clubs, community involvement or work experience
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship, both now and in the future

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher
    • Strong, creative problem solver
    • Works autonomously, self-starter
    • Intellectually curious and agile learner
    • Preference for Computer Science, Information Technology, and Business-related majors
