    THE HEDIS COORDINATOR INTERN – RESEARCH AND ABSTRACTION TEAM will be responsible for providing basic administrative support for department working in a fast-paced environment in order to meet deadlines within the project. Intern will work under the direction of the Lead/Manager to assist and fulfill project requests by working closely with supporting teams. A high degree of professionalism and team effort is expected to be maintained throughout the internship. This internship will assist with increasing rates for Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial along with a focus on improving STAR RATINGS.

    100% REMOTE OPPORTUNITY

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Assist abstractors by utilizing research within the company's claim systems to locate where members received care.

    • Coordinate, implement, and execute HEDIS Quality Department-specific projects, ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals.

    • Retrieve previously scanned information, assemble and scan/upload documents. Medical record confidentiality is maintained and records are stored on Anthem software, SharePoint, and medical record data entry tools (ie, Reveleer, Cotiviti, MACESS, FACETS,).

    • Synthesize aggregate plan and product level data medical record data

    • Establish baseline and measure the change, data gathering, presentation, and interpretation for optimal HEDIS data/results.

    • Prepare and maintain project plans and schedule inclusive of tasks, timelines, resources, milestones, dependencies, and assumptions.

    • Work under the direction of leadership to assist with interfacing with senior and corporate leadership.

    • Work closely with leadership to assist with record management audits and other compliance processes.

       

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Pursuing a degree in Clinical Studies, Nursing, Healthcare Administration or other related degrees.

    • This internship is 40 hours per week/or 20 hours per week depending on school schedule.

    • Must be enrolled fulltime at an accredited college or university during internship.

    • Students must be authorized to work in the U.S. without future visa sponsorship requirements.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Clinical licenses such as RN, LPN, LVN

    • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

    • Knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations, along with familiarity with medical terminology.

    • Basic Excel skills and must have the ability to type 30-40 WPM.

    • Respect to confidentiality, data protection, and information security.
