  • Responsibilities

    The Investments function provides investment advisory and asset management services to AIG and its business units. The Investment department’s in-house investment platform spans multiple asset classes, including high grade and high yield corporate and sovereign debt, securitized products, mortgage loans, corporate bonds, private placements, and global real estate.

    Analytics Modeling Group:

    • In this role, interns will focus on the operation of Analytics performance measurement system as well as data and reporting issues related to Analytics efforts.

    Capital Markets Group:

    • In this role, interns will update and organize SharePoint legal document storage – coordinate with other groups to confirm inventory of legal agreements is up-to-date, update and review Trader Mandate detail and information as well as GCM procedures, update and review Business Continuity Contact Details (“Wallet Card”), and review client/counterparty to book – to facilitate one of our technology initiatives this year.

    Joining the AIG Summer Internship Program is a great way to enhance your business acumen and gain insight into our industry. Summer interns are placed into meaningful and influential roles that have an immediate and integral impact on the business.

    The Summer Internship Program lasts approximately 10 weeks and is targeted to students entering the final year of their undergraduate or graduate education. After initial orientation, summer interns will join one of our business lines, each of which offers a unique opportunity to obtain core technical knowledge and professional skills in a diverse and global environment.

    Summer interns establish goals with their managers during the first week, and the goals are measured at the mid and end points of the summer. Successful summer interns may be considered for full-time analyst positions to begin summer of 2019.

    Required:

    • Minimum grade point average of 3.2 (unofficial transcript required upon application)
    • Bachelors or Master’s degree, or candidate for Bachelors or Master’s degree to be received no later than August 2019

    Preferred:

    • AIG seeks candidates who have excelled in previous work experience, demonstrated outstanding academic and extracurricular achievement, possess strong analytical, quantitative and interpersonal skills, and are enthusiastic about and committed to the insurance industry.

    • The ideal candidates will be bold thinkers with an entrepreneurial bent and will possess a powerful blend of IQ (technical skills, consistent learning, statistical & financial acumen) and EQ (adaptive communication, empathy, listening skills, challenging with humility).

    • Strong communication skills
    • Proven attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently; organize longer-term projects into reasonable work units; ability to prioritize appropriately several different initiatives simultaneously; ability to clearly articulate current status, progress, and obstacles
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint.
