    JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

    As a Nationwide investments intern, you’ll get a chance to experience our culture and see firsthand why we’re More Than a Business. We have developed a multi-faceted intern program that’s designed to help undergraduates develop a strong career foundation in the Investments field.

    Throughout your internship time at Nationwide, you’ll contribute to key business assignments that impact our mission and vision, all while developing and enhancing your understanding of investment-related concepts.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION/KEY DUTIES:

    The Nationwide Investment organizations manage over $130 billion across insurance company general account portfolios and other accounts. We are seeking 2-3 interns that will support our Credit Research and Alternative Investments teams, with the opportunity to work together with our associates and fellow interns in a collaborative, team-based environment.

    Each team’s intern will have the opportunity to meaningfully contribute to core Investments projects and efforts, gain a comprehensive understanding of each area within the Investments team, and align with a team within Investments, such as:

    • CREDIT RESEARCH: Conducting portfolio and / or fundamental credit analysis to assess risks and opportunities

    • ALTERNATIVE INVESTMENTS: Research and analysis of external manager investment opportunities

    • ENTERPRISE PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT: Research and analysis on macroeconomic, fundamental and technical indicators that will help our portfolio managers with investment strategy development

    • REAL ESTATE INVESTMENTS: Support and contribute to commercial mortgage loan (CML) due diligence activities, assess and determine ESG scores for CMLs, conduct CRE research, and assist with tax credit efforts, such as syndicator reviews and underwriting

    IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS, STRENGTHS OR INTERESTS:

    • Excels at analyzing data and looking for patterns / “a-ha” findings

    • Coding and programming knowledge (e.g., Python and Tableau skills) a plus

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Supports investment decision-making

    • Conducts portfolio and / or fundamental credit analysis to assess risks and opportunities

    • Interacts with multiple investment asset classes and functions

    • Participates in operational activities, such as trade settlement, deal closing and advanced analytics

    • Attends continuous learning and professional development sessions on Investments and other Nationwide business areas

    May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to Investment Leader or Senior Investment Professional.

    EDUCATION: Candidates could be pursuing, but not limited to, degrees in the following academic fields: Finance, Economics, Accounting, Math/Statistics, Data Analytics.

    LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/DESIGNATION: N/A

    EXPERIENCE: May have other internship experience.

    KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS: Basic understanding of Microsoft Office products, programming languages, and data analytic tools. Basic level of business perspective and analysis, customer focus, and dealing with ambiguity. Proficient level of problem solving, learning on the fly, and making the best use of system capabilities.

    Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by Chief Investment Officer and Human Resources Consultant/Manager.
