Pay Philosophy

The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Liberty EXCEL Program - Expanding Culture, Education and Leadership

Over the course of the program, you’ll learn the ins and outs of insurance - an innovative and rapidly evolving $1.7 trillion dollar industry - connect and build relationships with Liberty Mutual leadership, travel to Boston, compete in a case study to win scholarship money and much more.

Get set up for success so you can stand out and shine

As a Liberty EXCEL Scholar, you’ll:

• Gain foundational industry knowledge on all aspects of insurance, plus a deep un derstanding of our business segments and opportunities to intern across Liberty.
• Hear from our Black leadership on career navigation, brand development, and personal experiences as executives.
• Receive professional development that helps build your business acumen and develop skills needed for success with topics such as building executive presence, tips for resume development, preparing for interviews, and dealing with imposter syndrome.
• Receive and win additional scholarship money to help pay for school. As soon as you complete the program, you’ll receive scholarship money. Plus, you’ll have the chance to win even more through a case competition where you’ll solve and present a real business problem to leadership. The total winnings for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place is $50,000
• Intern at Liberty summer 2024 and apply what you learned as a Scholar in a paid, full time summer experience.
• Connect with mentors who will act as trusted advisors during the program and beyond by helping you prepare for the case competition, provide coaching on both hard and soft skills and more.
• Build your network of peers and meet hiring managers across the business through interactive sessions.

Plus, you’ll receive an opportunity to enjoy an all-expense paid trip to Boston to:

• Tour our corporate headquarters, meet Black leaders face to face and continue to build your relationships.
• Learn more about internship and work opportunities.
• Explore the city and local culture.

Qualifications

• Driven by intellectual curiosity and excited by complex problem solving
• Interested in innovation with a customer-focused mindset
• Strong communication and time management skills
• Currently enrolled at Howard University or Florida A&M
  • Preferences including but not limited to:
  • Technology, engineering, business, arts & sciences, communications majors
  • Students in their sophomore and junior year
  • Currently holds permanent US work authorization

How it works

Note, candidates must be available and willing to commit to the full program. Fall sessions are 90 minutes once or twice a week from October - November.
