    Summary

    Prosperity is seeking a highly motivated Financial Reporting Accountant. This is a position in the Finance department of Prosperity, a multibillion-dollar privately owned life insurance company. This position would aid the Statutory Financial Reporting Leader with the preparation and filings for state insurance regulators and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) across all legal entities, as well as assist with quarterly and annual statutory filings and financial statements.

    Major Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Tracking, managing and submitting all U.S. (State based and NAIC) Finance related regulatory fees and filings
    • Making, recording and reconciling regulatory payments
    • Prepare and file State-Specific Forms and supplements
    • Monitor due dates and ensure timely compliance with state filing deadlines
    • Track and submit renewals, fees and changes in company information to each state regulator
    • Maintain state filing calendar
    • Corresponding with regulators proactively as needed
    • Compiling supporting documentation for the financial statements and auditors, as needed
    • Aid in the planning and build out of statutory quarterly and annual financial statements. This may include the coordination and preparation of all footnote disclosures, management’s discussion and analysis, and internal controls.
    • Partner with applicable parties (General Accounting, Reinsurance Accounting, GAAP Accounting, Capital and Expense Management, Actuarial, Investment Accounting, IT, etc.) to ensure proper support of general ledger data/applications supporting external statutory accounting and financial reporting.

    Education and/or Experience and Skills

    • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and deadline adherence
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
    • 2-5 years accounting or finance experience
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Statutory regulatory experience
    • General insurance or financial services experience preferred
    • General knowledge of State filings portals i.e SERFF, Optins, OASIS, WINGS
