DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

Summary of the overall responsibilities of this job (please note that this information is typically used to provide a general overview of the position to internal and external applicants.)

• Under minimal supervision the position supports the underwriting team in providing efficient timely and accurate handling of the RFP submissions.
• Responsible for keeping up to date with requirements under state regulations and underwriting guidelines.
• May serve as departmental representative on systems projects.
• May serve as backup for other functional areas relating to the product such as claims and/or policy issuance.

Key duties and/or responsibilities:

• Using the ESL Office (David Young) program enter submissions and perform preliminary underwriting functions.
• Coordinate with other members of the team to ensure efficient and accurate handling of incoming RFPs within pre-set turnaround time.
• Follow up with brokers and/or underwriters regarding outstanding questions and paperwork.
• Performs administrative duties for the department as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate degree or equivalent work experience.
• Superior working knowledge of PC based systems and application such as Excel Word and data- base systems
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently and make sound judgments; demonstrated problem solving skills.
• 3+ years of experience within the insurance industry a plus
