    Job Description:

    An Underwriting Intern will be responsible for supporting and working on a variety of underwriting projects and tasks. Underwriting Interns will also receive an orientation to the company and the health benefits industry while being exposed to the impact and role of underwriting at Elevance Health.

    The Underwriting Summer Internship Program is a 10 week program with multiple positions. This internship is on-site in our Atlanta, GA office. A housing stipend will be provided to eligible selected candidates.

    How you will make an impact:

    • Assist in the analyzing of data.  Educate the audience on the meaning of this data and what story it tells.  Make and present recommendations based on the findings of this analysis.

    • Work with the Agile Resource Train (ART) to analyze, develop, and validate projects and data.

    • Work with the “A-Team” to help develop and implement projects to improve the underwriting function.

    • Work with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for efficiency.

    • Make recommendations to management related to development of the intern program.

    • Make recommendations to management related to development of the Underwriting Development Program.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university during internship, desired majors include Accounting, Actuarial Science, Business, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or other related degrees.

    • Students must be authorized to work in the U.S. without future visa sponsorship requirements

    • Ability to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the Summer internship

    Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

    • Being a rising Junior/Senior is preferred

    • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership ability as evidenced in extracurricular activities

    • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills

    • Experience in the use of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and Access)
