    DESCRIPTION

    The Whole Health & Health Equity Intern will be responsible for supporting the strategic implementation of whole health and health equity strategies into multiple projects and initiatives across the organization. Activities include but are not limited to performing assessments (with the use of tools), gap analyses and strategizing with internal and external partners on how to best address health inequity gaps and opportunities.

    HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

    • Aiding in the assessment of our Health Equity by utilizing assessment tools (reviewing data infrastructure, process, and outcome measures) for marginalized populations across Washington state

    • Engage in strategies to eliminate health inequities for departments so that Health Equity can be visualized and sustained

    • Opportunity to gain valuable insight regarding current health Amerigroup equity initiatives within the state of Washington

    • Assist in creating an Outreach Communications Plan which provides best guidelines in promoting health equity.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the summer internship program

    • Actively pursuing a master’s degree in a related field at an accredited college/university

    • Students must be authorized to work in the U.S. without future visa sponsorship requirements

    PREFERRED SKILLS, CAPABILITIES AND EXPERIENCES:

    • Familiarity with DEI

    • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and a quick learner

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)

    • Excellent Communication skills, both written and oral.

    • Excellent Problem-solving, Analytical, and Organizational skills

    • Excellent Public Speaking and Presentation skills

    • Understanding or basic knowledge of socio-economic barriers as influences to individual and community health to marginalized and disadvantaged communities

    • Desire to become familiar with or already has knowledge of community assessment tools, program planning & evaluation, data collection and analysis

    • Ability to work in an agile environment where learning is ongoing

    • A desire to make public health accessible to everyone ~ This is Health Equity
