    Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for a post-doctoral fellow for New Product Introduction Process and Development Organization, Research & Development (R&D) located in Jacksonville, Florida. Vision Care specializes in disposable contact lenses, which it markets under ACUVUE® Brand contact lenses.     This position will have responsibility for the development and execution of new and existing processes in R&D and the commercialization platform. The associate will work in a highly technical environment that will involve using process development fundamentals to support corrections, improvements, and risk management. They will facilitate and drive continuous improvement of equipment/processes and need to be capable of utilizing a variety of statistical tools to validate process improvements. This will require the ability to do process characterization and optimization using designed experiments, problem solving, modeling and decision-making making tools.

     

    THE POSITION WILL ALLOW FOR THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCES:

    • Project Management - provide timely and accurate reporting on project activities to peers and leadership.
    • Coordinate multi-functional teams of engineers and/or technicians as necessary to achieve project completion.
    • Facilitate and conduct engineering assignments involving projects of major magnitude and scope.
    • Find opportunities to unlock new ways to creatively and innovatively solve business problems that impact processes, capabilities, and team.
    • Work at a high technical expertise level involving planning development and design of materials, equipment, and/or processes.
    • Presentation at conference and in peer-reviewed scientific journals is encouraged.
    • Develop patent protected science-based innovations to enhance visual performance.

    THE CANDIDATE SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO THE FOLLOWING:

    • Collaborate with other scientists and engineers to advance the process of launching products by developing tools to model critical process spaces in like photochemistry and photopolymerization.
    • Interface with third party suppliers and an interdisciplinary technical team
    • Projects will cover development of polymerization processes for novel bulk and surface chemistries for Ophthalmic medical device applications.
    • Design of experiments; data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation; conducting literature and patent searches; organization and assimilation of literature search results.
    • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
    • Have strong analytical approach to problem solving to deliver innovative solutions.
    • Track, trend, develop, and implements equipment and/or process improvements that will increase efficiency, safety, product yield, and equipment reliability.
  • Qualifications
    • A PhD in a relevant field (chemistry, physics, materials engineering, etc.) with a research focus on polymer science and engineering.  (Required)
    • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future.
    • Availabilty to work full time (40 hours/week) for the two-year post-doctoral period
    • A minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 is required. 
    • Demonstrated leadership and/or significant participation in the scientific community is required.
    • Position requires knowledge in polymerization mechanisms and kinetics, photochemistry, statistics, modeling, and strong mathematic principles.
    • Candidates must be detail-oriented, highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks.
    • Candidates must have the ability to work individually (independently) as well as on a team.
    • Candidates need to be proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Power Point, and have strong oral and written communication skills.
