    Ethicon Inc and DePuy Synthes Inc will virtually be hosting the 2021 Women in Engineering Leadership Summit virtually on THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 18 & FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2021. This is an invitation only event for current college students.

     

    Those selected for attendance at the summit receive:

    • Opportunities to interview for 2021/2022 Co-Ops assignments with Ethicon or DePuy
    • Networking with Senior Leaders
    • Networking with Ethicon and DePuy Engineers and Managers
    • An extensive overview of the University Program at Ethicon and Depuy

     

    The Ethicon business offers a broad range of products, platforms, and technologies—including sutures, surgical staplers, advanced energy, robotic surgery, clip appliers, trocars and synthetic mesh devices—that are used in a wide variety of minimally invasive and open surgical procedures. Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women’s health conditions, hernias, cancer and obesity. The Ethicon business combines products and services of two market leading legacy companies, both with long histories of medical innovation. Ethicon, Inc. based in Somerville, New Jersey, was founded more than 80 years ago, as a pioneer in suture development and manufacturing, helping to transform the safety and effectiveness of open surgery. Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc. was created 25 years ago, in Cincinnati, Ohio, developing creative devices that have driven the groundbreaking shift from open to minimally invasive surgery that continues to lead the industry today.

    As a co-op at a J&J Medical Device company (Ethicon and DePuy Synthes) you will have the opportunity to:

    • You will have opportunities to participate in rotational assignments encompassing entire projects or a large portion of a major project. This may include resolving advanced materials, process, inspection/testing or procedural approaches to advance a medical device through the pipeline process into full R&D, and potentially into commercialization.
    • Support of products’ design development, manufacturing and commercialization, leveraging technical expertise to anticipate and proactively address challenges and risks.
    • Ability to assist with the productivity of product’s design, improve the quality of projects, improve communications through documentation, and to create a database for manufacturing.
    • Develop engineer capabilities to develop and deliver automated medical devices - including requisite instruments, advanced imaging, and user interface / experience.
    • Opportunity to work in a fast-paced cross functional, technologically advanced corporate environment in a program focused on developing individual engineers capable of pursuing careers across medical device businesses and high-volume manufacturers.
    • Ability to pursue a number of internal developmental training programs as well as externally recognized qualifications.
    • Responsibilities will increase with each rotation as you learn more by returning to school.

     

    We offer competitive wage and housing assistance for non-local students as well as active mentoring throughout your assignment.  Co-ops are assigned mutually beneficial and meaningful assignments and ample opportunities for networking within the company. The co-op opportunity includes positions within Product Management, R&D Design, Development, and Quality. Each student is provided with a great support system, as well as the opportunity to meet students from various schools throughout the country.

  • Qualifications

    To qualify for this opportunity, you must:

    • Be actively enrolled in an accredited College/Institution pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an engineering or related field
    • Be authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship now or in the future
    • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or above
    • Have a graduation date after May of 2021

     

    Once you have submitted your completed application, all candidates that meet requirements will be sent a request via email to complete a pre-recorded video interview sharing your interest in the event. All candidates selected to attend the event will be notified no later than FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2021.
