    Mobile Engineering Intern

By joining the Expedia Group 2023 Global Summer Internship Program as a Mobile Engineer, you’ll fully integrate into our inclusive community and gain a well-rounded experience of life at Expedia Group. At the conclusion of the program, you’ll have the opportunity to reflect on your experience with your manager and potentially receive a conversion offer for a full-time role as part of our Expedia Group Graduate Program after you graduate!

    About the Internship Program:

    • Onboarding: first week support with our Early Careers team, introductions to Expedia Group, laptop set up, meeting your intern cohort

    • Intern Bootcamp: role-specific technical and professional skills learning to help you get set up for success

    • Social events: regular fun events for all interns to get to know each other during the program 

    • Leadership Series: opportunities to directly ask questions and learn about the career journeys of our leaders during exclusive intern-only Q&A events

    • Learning Series: interactive workshops to build professional & soft skills, and to support development, including topics such as personal branding and mental wellness  

    • Support: coaching and advice, provided by managers, navigators (buddies) and Early Careers

    • Project work: interns enjoy a great level of responsibility and complete incredible projects specific to their role profile based on our business needs

    What You’ll do:

    Travel is so much more than simply reaching your destination. Along the journey, you'll utilize your technical skills in our agile environment to develop the world’s go to travel app. You will be empowered to make an immediate impact by creating high-volume, scalable solutions and work with teams to iterate on features quickly and efficiently. From the back-end supply and database functions to new user interfaces for more than 140 branded travel sites, there is no shortage of opportunities for technical innovation at Expedia Group. We are also working with the newest mobile technologies like SwiftUI (iOS) and JetPack Compose (Android).

    • Work closely with your immediate team for questions and concerns; connect with your manager and dedicated mentor to answer questions

    • You will be comfortable with common developer tools and can use them with assistance (e.g., GitHub or an IDE)

    • Demonstrate an aptitude to learn and apply basic software engineering concepts like design principles, algorithms, and code composition

    • Understand the basic business reasons for a given feature or project

    • Understand the major components of a team's design by asking questions of teammates

    • Respond to queries via work approved tools (email, Slack, Excel, etc)

    Who You Are:

    • Must be available to commit to the full program dates

    • For NORAM: May 22nd, 2023 – July 28th, 2023 OR June 26th, 2023 -September 1st, 2023

    • Must be graduating with an undergraduate or master’s degree in a technical subject (e.g. Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math) between December 2023 and July 2024

    • Must be willing to relocate to the city of job location if outside commuting distance

    • Must have no more than 2 years' professional experience

    • Helpful to be familiar with basic concepts of at least one programming or scripting language (e.g. Kotlin, Swift, Java, C/C++, Python)  

    • Helpful to have knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and iOS/Android Development

    • Helpful to have effective communication skills and the ability to engage with a variety of partners (e.g., internal, external, technical, non-technical people)

    The total cash range for this position in Chicago, Austin, and Seattle is $41/hr to $51/hr during the 10 week program.Pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location and degree level. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
