    Background and Purpose of the Role

    As part of the Sundial Hair Strategy, future growth will come from new product innovation initiatives. These innovations will be new to the market delivering consumer benefits across the key markets like US, EU, Canada etc with disruptive technologies.

    This role will develop and deliver ingredient specifications and technical documentation as required to support innovation, renovation, and cost saving initiatives for Sundial Brands. Day-to-day the ownership and management of Unilever's Technical Specification Portfolio for delivery to R&D Formulation, SMT, QA, and Procurement. Also, provide direction to R&D Formulation team on any new/innovative ingredients that may lead to disruptive formulations.


    • Specification planning for innovation and value improvement projects
    • Specification Development for ingredients and TPM formulations
    • Assess raw material dossiers submitted by suppliers for corporate compliance
    • Initiate and follow up with suppliers to provide documentation to maintain their raw material
    • Creation of part codes in SAP MDM Tool.
    • Execution of agreed cross-functional Specification Management Process
    • Collaboration with network required to secure accurate input into spec content: Design and Deploy Teams, Technical Management, Regulatory, Brand Development, Brand Building, Suppliers, Procurement, and Supply Chain
    • Understand and implement Specification Data Quality Standards
    • Responsible for ensuring that regional requirements can be met via global specifications
    • Status Management- Responsible for the management of the status of all specification types during their lifetime.
    • Work with suppliers to keep abreast of new ingredients, regulatory and new claim methodologies by regularly attending external industry meetings .
    • Working with senior leadership to evaluate trends, explore new territories and extend broader understandings of various formats and technologies thru various sources, and get the learnings feeding into new innovations ideas for new brands.
  • Qualifications


    • Strong Scientific technical Background. Minimum of 0-3 years of experience required in a related field required
    • Experience in natural ingredients, a plus
    • BS or BA in Chemistry, Biology or related Scientific Field or equivalent experience;
    • Holding pioneer/’start-up’ spirit, open-minded and embrace new ways of working, willing to take new challenges and explore new approach to drive speed and novelty in innovations.
    • Strong communication skills & proven ability to interact across a range of functions & leadership groups and deal with people from multicultural backgrounds.
    • Strong customer service skills with an emphasis on the ability to develop positive internal and external professional relationships
    • Independent ability to identify a problem, seek out a resolution and implement a corrective action
    • Good Verbal/written Communication skills ability to influence peers, key stakeholders and various partners.
    • Well understand product development principles, R&D processes and protocols, good ability to identify the risk and mitigation plan.
    • Good digital acumen, always design product with E-commerce & Social commerce ‘genes’
    • Excellent team collaboration spirit, strong leadership in team coaching and management
    • Strong ability to work under high pressure and good problem-solving skills
    • A “Can do” attitude that does whatever it takes to get the job done.
    • Growing mindset, fast learning on new things, keep analysing and summarize experiences and best practice in a systematic manner.
    • Great passion in skin care, keep paying attention to the evolving market outside and keep pace with trends.
