    At Freddie Mac, you will do important work to build a better housing finance system and you’ll be part of a team helping to make homeownership and rental housing more accessible and affordable across the nation.

    The Freddie Mac Legal Division is launching the Attorney Center for Excellence (ACE) Program, with an anticipated start date in early 2021. We are actively seeking applications from recent law graduates to be a part of the first cohort of ACE Fellows!

    The ACE Program Fellowship is a full-time, two-year term position within the Legal Division, which may include participation in a rotation program through our core practice areas, in-house and external training opportunities, including a reverse secondment at a major law firm. The ACE Program will give the fellows the outstanding opportunity of working in a vibrant and diverse corporate legal office dedicated to supporting our core mission of helping to make homeownership and rental housing more accessible and affordable across the nation.

    The Legal Division is committed to providing quality, proactive, timely and efficient advice and representation responsive to client needs on all matters affecting Freddie Mac. This includes partnering with business clients, establishing a consistent view of legal exposure across business lines, providing repeatable, measurable and defensible processes and improving the delivery and management of legal services.

    Your Impact:

    In your role as an ACE Fellow, you will serve as a Counsel in the Legal Division, and will be an integral part of the Division’s role within Freddie Mac. You will be encouraged to:

    • Participate in a rotation program through some of the Legal Division’s core, client-facing practice areas, such as Single-Family Real Estate; Multifamily Real Estate; Litigation; Mortgage Securities; General Corporate; and Mission, Legislative & Regulatory Affairs;
    • Progress through internal and external training, which may include work as a reverse secondee at large law firm either in Washington, D.C. or New York;
    • Demonstrate creativity and dedication in providing sound legal advice to clients in a fast-paced environment;
    • Develop legal skills required to succeed in a corporate legal office or law firm;
    • Participate in Legal Division activities, including pro bono opportunities and diversity and inclusion initiatives;
    • Draft well-structured, complete and concise correspondence, legal analyses and documents for internal and external purposes; and
    • Create and maintain effective working relationships with business clients, Legal Division colleagues and external parties.
  • Qualifications
    • Law degree from an ABA accredited law school and strong academic record (minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA)
    • Law degree received no more than 18 months prior to start date
    • Outstanding research, writing, and communication skills
    • Ability to work well and cohesively with a team of legal professionals
    • Well-organized, self-directed, and able to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a timely and efficient manner
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including WORD and Excel
    • Availability to begin full-time employment as early as January 2021
    • Availability for occasional work beyond core business hours or on weekends, as needed
