Indeed’s Cloud Economics (FinOps) Team is seeking an experienced Cloud FinOps Analyst / Engineer who is a technical, analytical, collaborative, fiscally minded problem-solver. In this role, you will bring your in-depth knowledge of cloud & SaaS spend analysis, as well as an understanding of cost optimization opportunities to a new FinOps team being built inside Indeed. We are tasked with granular cost allocation, measuring unit costs, performing spend variance analysis, developing show-back reporting, budgeting & forecasting cloud/SaaS spend, centrally governing and controlling Committed Use Discounts & vendor rate negotiations, and addressing cost anomalies and cloud resource inefficiencies.

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

• Oversee budgeting and forecasting for cloud & SaaS expenses including monthly financial reporting, variance analysis and invoice reconciliations

• Analyze spend trends, anomalies, savings opportunities, and consult product teams providing specific improvement recommendations influencing their  strategy and execution of cloud & SaaS service utilization/consumption

• Collaborate with product teams to develop and track unit economics measuring how changes to cloud services impact the business value of spend, ultimately providing maximum business value by making data-driven spending decisions

• Be the glue between technical product teams, finance, procurement and accounting that understands how usage impacts costs, and make recommendations on how to continuously optimize cloud & SaaS spend

• Prepare and present monthly financial updates to audiences ranging from product teams to senior leadership

• Partner with FP&A to support financial planning cost modeling efforts

• Develop, advocate and drive public cloud & SaaS spend management education and governance throughout Indeed

• Develop, track and publicize key performance metrics pertaining to cloud & SaaS spend

• Manage vendor relationships including addressing billing disputes, tracking contract consumption, reporting variances in forecast to FP&A, and partnering with Procurement to drive appropriately scoped renewals

• Understand and manage Committed Use Discounts and provide proactive recommendations to product teams on how Indeed can fully leverage available opportunities.

• Develop reporting tools and automation that better enables the FinOps team with data analysis

• Support the Cloud Business Office (CBO) and Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE) by addressing cloud & SaaS billing questions and savings opportunities

WHO YOU ARE

What we’re looking for:

• FinOps teams are made up of personas from all backgrounds; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or related field; or the equivalent combination of work experience or professional training.

• Background work experience in cloud engineer, data analyst, business intelligence, financial planning & analysis, accounting, investment banking, or corporate finance

• Experience with Public Cloud cost management and tools (AWS Cost Explorer, Apptio, Kion, Cloudhealth, Cloudability, etc.)

• Experience harvesting, massaging and analyzing data to drive data-driven decisions

• An understanding of FinOps fundamentals and the ability to execute basic FinOps Capabilities

• Hands on cloud experience (AWS, GCP, Snowflake etc.)

• Excellent organization, time management, and communication (written and verbal) skills

• Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to work under pressure and within short time constraints in a complex system and business environment

• SQL skills and understanding of database / data warehousing concepts

• You are an expert at Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets

Experience that would be great, but is not required:

• FinOps Practitioner certification

• AWS Certification

• Linux System Administration

• REST API programming experience (Python, Go, etc.)

• Data Exploration & Visualization Tool experience (Apache Superset, Tableau, etc.)

• Previous experience in cost allocation and cloud tagging strategy

• Project management experience

SALARY RANGE DISCLAIMER

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
