YOUR JOB

We are looking for an engineer in our team to support our Distributed Messaging infrastructure.

As a team member in Persistence Platform, you have broad and deep experience in the Kafka, RabbitMQ and message broker technologies in general.  You have established your career on these platforms, but you know the future is in the cloud.  You have a foundation of cloud knowledge, and relish the opportunity to dig deeper into the benefits and architectures for search in the cloud. You enjoy working with teams outside your own to help solve problems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Contributing to design and architecture reviews, deploying infrastructure when required, and capacity planning in  cloud (IaaS and SaaS provider) environments

• Share expert-level knowledge in your platforms by creating documentation and evangelizing with other teams

• Collaborate with Cloud Saas provider and develop, implement solutions, or systems that improve the team’s ability to deliver reliability, velocity, and efficiency to the customer

• Manage planning and automation for upgrades and regular maintenance, including migrations to cloud providers

• Serve as a member for on-call rotation for your platform as an escalation point

• Use Infrastructure As Code tools and techniques to manage and help our customers manage large-scale deployments reliably. Experience or eagerness to learn Terraform or Puppet necessary

WHO YOU ARE

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

• 2+ years of experience contributing to the cloud architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

• Several years experience in system design and delivery

• A self starter with the ability to work with multiple teams and has good communication/ team building skills

• Strong experience with high concurrency, multithreaded and distributed systems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience making contributions to opensource platforms.

• Experience building high volume and highly scalable online services.

• Experience operating highly available services.

• Experience with distributed systems, consistent hashing, distributed locking, check-pointing, load balancing, replication, geographical distribution

• Working knowledge of Hadoop, MapReduce, Kafka, Spark or similar  Big Data processing platforms.

• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.

• Experience mentoring other engineers.

• Strong problem solving ability and object-oriented design skills.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar; or equivalent experience

SALARY RANGE DISCLAIMER

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees.
