INTRODUCTION
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic designer to intern with our team of researchers, designers, and writers crafting an end-to-end experience for IBM Research.
Our design team elevates every part of the IBM Research journey. We've developed a distinct brand expression that you will learn and contribute to. You will work closely with our design team and other internal partners to heighten the impact of amazing work produced by our research staff members and leadership.

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The IBM Research Brand Experience Design organization creates a quality, differentiated, end-to-end experience for IBM Research. The team crafts every experience and encounter, internally and externally, and our work crosses nearly every category of output: research and strategy, communications, content development, symbology and systems, web and digital experiences, tools and training, and physical spaces. These experiences succeed only when they are immaculately crafted-excellent design is critical to everything we do. This is your domain. You will play a critical role in shaping key IBM Research web experiences and interactions, and you will learn from a team of experienced brand designers how to develop superb deliverables.
This role is based in the New York City area or Cambridge, MA with opportunities for remote work. The Design Intern is passionate about ideas, branded experiences, and sophisticated design. You have a strong inclination towards strategic, simple, smart design, and a keen eye for a modernist approach to typography, information design and motion graphics. The right candidate can work across digital media-web, environmental, social, product, and animation, as well as conceptual skills with identity design, iconography, and brand systems. You are eager to learn when faced with a challenge they can't solve on their own.
You will primarily contribute to IBM Research's digital experiences and website while applying creative thinking as they work closely with writers, editors, developers, and individual research teams.
We expect the Design Intern to:
The role will consist primarily of brand and visual design, as well as digital media creation. You will support the the vision of the Creative Director as well as that of the broader Brand Experience Design organization.
