New teachers join Success by first participating in an immersive summer training experience, and once in the classroom, receive ongoing support and mentorship from expert teachers and school leaders.

    Reporting to the Principal, the High School Biology Lab Technician will work closely with the Associate Director of Life Sciences, Associate Dean of Life Sciences, Department Teachers, and Assistants to facilitate the delivery of high quality laboratory activities to students and to introduce the latest scientific advances into the curriculum.

    In this role, you will:

    • Complete the breakdown of completed labs and setup of upcoming labs, monitor stocks of perishable materials and assist with the ordering of supplies/materials as required, ensuring additional materials are available as required by instructors
    • Maintain a safe environment in the teaching laboratories
    • Handle the upkeep, repair and operation of all laboratory teaching instruments, including submission of Facilities Maintenance Reports to the Associate Director of Biology for repair needs and tracking of completion
    • Maintain, monitor, and arrange for the proper disposal of unused chemicals in the instructional laboratories
    • Act as a liaison to teachers and scholars’ in developing their own scientific processes, from basic skills, to analyze data, to fully internalizing the scientific method in scientific research
    • Engage in training teachers to operate laboratory equipment and follow proper lab safety before each laboratory investigation
    • Assist instructors in delivering laboratory classes
    • Help test new lecture and laboratory experiments
    • Develop meaningful relationships with key staff members for successful classroom implementation of lab investigations
  • Qualifications

    • Have or will receive a Bachelors Degree by Spring 2021
    • Achieved outstanding academic results
    • Have lab experience, preferably in the sciences (Biology, Physics, or Chemistry), with a proven record of laboratory success;
    • Have completed or are working on a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or a related field, with an outstanding record of academic achievement and work ethic;
    • Exhibit a passion for science;
    • Are flexible and open to feedback;
    • Are interested in working in a collaborative environment.
