As a Hardware Developer at IBM, you'll get to work on the systems that are driving the quantum revolution and the AI era. IBM Quantum Developers will have the opportunity to focus on kernel, algorithm, or model development. Areas of focus could include quantum machine learning, quantum biology and health informatics, quantum algorithms for chemistry, quantum simulations, quantum optimization, cloud microservices, and cloud API (among other areas).

IBM Quantum Developers will have the opportunity to:

• Receive training on Qiskit and mentorship on contributing to open source
• Get access to state-of-the-art quantum processors and devices at IBM
• Work on meaningful problems in the field of quantum computing
• Collaborate with peers working in the field of quantum computing
• Gain a broad experience in quantum research, from fundamental to applied
• Get exposure to the wide range of research happening at IBM

Candidates from around the world with varying backgrounds and professional interests and curiosities are encouraged to apply for this position. Candidates will have an opportunity to discuss specific location and timing as part of the application process. Depending on the role, some travel may be involved to IBM Q Network and IBM Quantum events such as Qiskit Camp.

Location: The work location for this role includes one of the IBM Research labs in the following locations:

• Yorktown Heights, New York
• Poughkeepsie, New York
• San Jose, California
• Rochester, Minnesota

• Experience in a graduate or undergraduate program related to software engineering or computer science
• Coursework or projects related to quantum information, computation, or algorithms
• Software development experience in an area of study related to quantum computing, or other applicable area
• Experience with the Python programming language
• Use of (or exposure to) the Qiskit quantum computing framework
• Participation in the Qiskit Advocates Program
