    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Visa Research is a team of world-class research scientists. Our mission is toconduct applied research on the most challenging problems in the payment industry and provides technical thought leadership for the company's future. Visa Research engages with internal and external partners to identify and research critical ideas and issues that may have an impact to the payment's ecosystem. Our initial research agenda focuses on three key areas: Artificial Intelligence, Security and Future of Payments.

    There are 4 areas of research that will have interns this upcoming summer. PLEASE IDENTIFY IN THE NOTES OF YOUR APPLICATION WHICH TEAM YOU ARE INTERESTED IN:

    ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

    Develops AI-powered predictive intelligence engine to decode the "language of transactions" and drive innovations in the loyalty and fraud detection domains. Research areas include deep learning, predictive modeling, recommendation systems, and scalable machine learning systems.

    SECURITY, CRYPTOGRAPHY, AND BLOCKCHAIN RESEARCH

    Enables policy-enforced full lifecycle protection for data at rest, in transit, and during computation, for all payment-related and data-analytics scenarios. Fundamental and applied research areas include Advances in Cryptography, Systems Security, and Blockchain/Secure Distributed Systems.

    APPLIED AI RESEARCH Explores and develops advanced ways for leveraging data to create business value for Visa through data analysis and applied research effort; lays the foundation for the future generation of machine learning and modelling with big data; and works with business units on ideation and ensures.

    ENGINEERING AND PROTOTYPING Conducts research by fast prototyping and focuses on solving research problems by developing an early products or PoC in Visa systems.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Basic Qualifications(MUST HAVES):

    • PURSUING A PHD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, CIS/MIS, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Businessor a related field,GRADUATING OCTOBER 2021OR LATER
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 (or equivalent scale)
    • Strong communications skills, specifically, the absence of repeated grammatical or typographical errors, clear and concise written and spoken communications, and communications that demonstrate professional judgment.

    Preferred Qualifciations(Great to haves):

    • Papers submitted to recognized conferences as 1st or 2nd author.
    • Experience with Big Data technologies: Hadoop, Spark, R, NoSQL
    • Proficiency in at least one programming language or technology including, but not limited, to Java, C/C++, C#, .NET, python, Javascript, HTML
    • Communicate status frequently to project stakeholders
    • Highly driven, resourceful and results oriented
    • Strong ability to lead or drive a project from the beginning to the end with sufficient understanding of the goal.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    WORK HOURS This position requires the incumbent to be available during core business hours.

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS This position requires the incumbent to travel for work 0% of the time.

    MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.
