This position is for the MIT Externship Program for January 2020.

Work with exceptional ADP Skunk Works Revolutionary Technology Programs (RTP) physicists, mathematicians and engineers to accomplish ongoing and new experiments in plasma, engineered materials, radio frequency and optical communication, or advanced human performance technologies. RTP is engaged in a broad range of pursuits. This internship position will expose the successful applicant to many parts of research and development projects, including working in small motivated teams, and offering hands on experience in building portions of the experiment and collecting data. The intern will be asked for their ideas as part of the team and will present results to the larger team. The selected college intern will have demonstrated incurable curiosity about the world around them and in cutting edge science, have an entrepreneurial spirit and an appreciation of both art and inspired design.

Must be a US Citizen; this position requires a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Enrolled in one of the following degree programs at MIT: Aeronautical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field
• Familiarity with lab procedures.
• Proficiency in MATLAB, Excel, Word, PowerPoint

DESIRED SKILLS:

‒ Completion of initial classes in physics, mathematics and/or engineering
