    Janssen Research & Development, a member of the Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson, is recruiting for a Scientist in Translational PK/PD Modeling, located in Spring House, PA.

    Janssen Research & Development, L.L.C. develops treatments that improve the health and lifestyles of people worldwide. Research and development areas encompass novel targets in neurologic disorders, gastroenterology, oncology, infectious disease, hematology, metabolic disorders, immunologic disorders, and reproductive medicine.

     

    The Translational PK/PD (pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic) Modeling Scientist uses mathematical modeling techniques to support discovery programs across multiple therapeutic areas.  The Scientist will be a key member of cross-disciplinary discovery project teams and will be responsible for developing quantitative dose- and exposure-response relationships in preclinical studies and for predicting efficacious human doses.  The Scientist will evaluate a broad range of in vitro and in vivo data to develop integrated mathematical models characterizing the effects of drug candidates and support the advancement of the most promising molecules to investigational new drug (IND) filings and human studies.  The Scientist will highlight key uncertainties associated with the existing data and modeling and collaborate with other team members to design additional studies that will provide necessary data to improve the modeling and predictions.  Mathematical modeling approaches and software used will include physiologically-based pharmacokinetic modeling (e.g., Simcyp, GastroPlus) and various PK/PD applications (e.g., Phoenix, Monolix, NONMEM, Matlab, Simbiology).

  • Qualifications
    • PhD in Pharmacology, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields.
    • Publication record demonstrating successful application of mathematical modeling techniques is required. 
    • Experience with pharmacology modeling, or strong background in math/engineering/physics is preferred.
    • The candidate must possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral/written communication and teamwork skills.
    • This position is located in Spring House, PA, and may require 10% travel.
