    Site Quality Specialist

    BACKGROUND & PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    TheSite Quality Specialistwill support the implementation of Unilever specifications, standards and Quality Management System (QMS) for quality assurance and controls in alignment with applicable regulatory requirements.

    This key quality role ensures systems are in place to comply with local and International regulatory requirements and drives site quality improvement activities to ensure product, consumer safety, overall quality, and address consumer and customer issues. The Site Quality Specialist will report through the Site Quality Manager to the Supply Chain Leader.

    WHO YOU ARE & WHAT YOU’LL DO

    • Decision making directly impacts consumer safety and quality of Unilever (UL) products in the marketplace with implications on Unilever reputation and brand equity. Is a key role in mitigation and management of Unilever Corporate Operational Risk (Design and production of products that meet our environmental, consumer safety and quality standards).
    • Leads efforts to verify and document compliance to regulatory requirements applicable to quality and consumer safety, and to ethnic and religious requirements. Includes FDA and Health Canada.
    • Supervises the Quality Technicians responsible for operations, systems, and packaging inspections.
    • Leads implementation of UL Quality Management System (QMS) in the site to assure consumer safety and overall quality of final product being manufactured.
    • Leads efforts to verify compliance of QMS and Regulatory requirements through internal quality audits and Global Quality Verification program.
    • Leads the review process and management of QA SOP system to ensure that UL and other applicable standards are accurately represented in all work instructions.
    • Co-leads the factory’s Management of Change program and document control processes.
    • Supports data collection, analysis and assignment to standard Quality losses in support of operational KPIs reporting.
    • Leads efforts to complete and maintain external audits and certifications.
    • Leads efforts to verify and document the traceability of materials, packaging and products e.g. includes annual dummy or mock recall exercises.
    • Manages SAP systems and Unilever specifications including PLM system and supports verification of use for quality purposes. SAP-QM Superuser.
    • Supports site required actions necessary to manage product incidents e.g. data and information requested by MCO Quality.
    • Leads the implementation and maintenance of system where key quality data and information are recorded and preserved and assures, they meet regional requirements.
    • Supports and participates in Quality Pillar activities for WCM program.
    • Drives quality focused improvement activities using advanced statistical tools (SPC and Capability analysis).
    • Utilizes advanced knowledge of category and technology details and requirements to support site innovation, maintaining current processes, and focus improvements.
  • Qualifications

    WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

    • Bachelor of Science Degree required in technical discipline (biology, chemistry, microbiology preferred)
    • Ability to utilize WCM or other problem-solving methodology/tools to determine root cause and deploy a systematic approach.
    • Ability to lead and motivate a team towards common goals and encourage team development.
    • Strong computer, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
    • 2-4 years of Manufacturing
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Quality
    • Proficiency in MS Office
    • FDA/cGMP experience
    • Quality Systems
    • Strong Analytic & technical thought process

    Preferred:

    • SAP and SPC applications
    • PLM applications
    • Certified in Quality Engineering or other Quality field
    • Strong Analytic & technical thought process
    • Excellent oral, written communication and effective interpersonal skills; and be able to communicate business results, changes and the relationship between individuals, their job, and the company.
