YOUR JOB
We’re looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the Incident Management team at Indeed. Our team focuses on developing tools and processes for incident response. We work to streamline incident response by bringing clarity to active incidents, automate procedures that allow engineering and product teams to stay focused on resolving incidents, and develop metrics to help target areas of improvement. We help engineers view on-call as an opportunity and not a burden.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and ship software systems that help organize active incidents, bring together relevant partners, and keep senior leaders updated on incident status
Practice the entire software development life-cycle through activities like architecture reviews, code reviews, creating platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and chaos testing
Maintain service health through monitoring and follow-the-sun incident response
Work closely with the Resilience Engineering, Learning from Incidents and Observability teams to help understand ways of detecting and strengthening Indeed systems
Grow, evolve, and run Indeed’s volunteer Incident Facilitator program
Partner with customer organizations to understand their incident response challenges
WHO YOU ARE
Requirements:
5+ years of industry experience and BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
Experience writing code in Java, Go, Shell, Perl, Python, or a similar language
Expertise in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting software and systems in a distributed internet scale environment
Ability to debug, optimize code, and automate routine tasks

Strong interest in SRE topics like SLOs, resilience, scaling, performance, and more
Experience with Incident Response tools and platforms such as PagerDuty, DataDog, Hund.io, FireHydrant, Blameless or similar systems
Experience with running production workloads in public cloud providers (preferably AWS)
Excellent communication skills, ownership, and drive

SALARY RANGE DISCLAIMER
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
