YOUR JOB

Indeed has scores of data scientists working on building models to integrate into our products. Matching job seekers to jobs, estimating salary, detecting fraud, and dozens of other use cases to help people get jobs. 

The Data Science Platform (DSP) team is the bridge between data scientists and engineers. We're building a platform that enables data scientists to easily create, deploy and monitor machine learning models which can easily be integrated into our products. DSP is used across the engineering org, enabling teams to build awesome experiences for job seekers and employers. 

In this role you will help build out our machine learning platform and be a strong voice in design and code reviews. You will collaborate with our internal partners and product owners to build and sell our roadmap. You will also help grow our engineering org, through mentoring and recruiting.

• How to drive impact across the engineering org. This job is not for someone who wants to work alone; you will be an important voice in how our roadmap is formed and in choosing the technologies to build our products. You will grow your skills in persuasion, listening and teaching.

WHO YOU ARE

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Help design new systems and enhancements to existing systems to support substantial new features and products

• Provide feedback on other engineers’ designs for new systems and enhancements

• Investigate problems and recommend fixes for your teams’ products

• Provide feedback in code reviews for changes made by other engineers on your team

• Contribute documentation that relates to your team’s products, code, and work items

• Share your expertise on products and technologies by mentoring other engineers

• Work with Product Managers and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and to decompose large requests into smaller ones that can be executed sequentially or in parallel

• Work with various stakeholders to refine and clarify Product and Engineering goals and ensure that they align with company objectives

• Assist other engineers in prioritizing work items, estimating urgency and business impact, and balancing short- and long-term results

• Interview candidates for various positions in the Engineering organization, and participate in group discussions on candidates’ fitness for those positions

• Provide feedback for peers in the Engineering and Product organizations on what they’re doing well and where they have opportunities for growth

• Triage newly reported bugs and feature requests; estimate scope and priority of each

• Assist other product teams in investigating and resolving difficult problems

• Drive process improvements for your team

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or a closely related computer technical field.

• 5+ years in a Data Engineering, 5+ years coding experience and 3+ years hands on experience with big data technologies

NICE TO HAVE:

• 5+ years experience programming with at least one of the following languages: Python, AWS, ML/AI experience

SALARY RANGE DISCLAIMER

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), an open Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
