Data drives Indeed. It powers our search and recommendation engine, allows us to understand how we should improve our products, and allows us to connect job seekers and employers to ultimately help people get jobs. Having high quality, well understood data is really powerful, but comes with a large responsibility to protect and secure that data. We owe it to our users to protect their data as our own to prevent misuse and data leakage. That is where the Data Ecosystem Platform comes in; to build platforms and automation to help Indeed better understand where sensitive data lives and what controls are in place to best secure it.

As a manager on the Data Ecosystem Platform team, you’re building platforms that contribute to improve Indeed’s ability to better understand, govern, and secure sensitive information. What types of data does database X contain? What applications are running that are vulnerable to a novel zero-day attack? What data is at risk because of it? These are the types of questions that our platform aims to answer. This requires both a deep level of understanding of the data and systems surrounding it as well as the ability to scale the collection of the data through automation and heuristics.

WHO YOU ARE

• 2+ years experience programming with languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, or similar

• Ability to work efficiently on a remote/distributed team

• Have a strong sense of ownership in every application they build

• Advocate for the user; keeping their rights front of mind when developing solutions

• Are interested in the data security and data privacy space; or have experience in building systems that detect and prevent data loss or leakage

• Have experience with service-oriented architectures, APIs including GraphQL, gRPC, Protobuf, and REST

• Have experience with event-driven architectures that handle high throughput data streams (Kafka, SQS/SNS)

• Have experience in building internal platforms and APIs used by other members of the technical organization

The Product Technology organization is responsible for Indeed’s foundational technology and platforms for job seeker and employer products. We help build and maintain analytics tools used weekly by most Indeedians, guide Indeed’s cloud infrastructure strategy and keep the website up and running, and finally offer secure login, payment, and communication systems for job seekers and employers.

SALARY RANGE DISCLAIMER

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), an open Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
