    YOUR JOB

    The Business Platform Engineering team’s primary objective is to help people get jobs. To achieve this, you will design systems that bring together Indeed’s Sales, Marketing, and Customer Support organizations to better serve our Job Seekers and Employers - in order to consistently improve upon the hiring process. This will include building platforms with APIs, data warehouses, reports / dashboards, data connections/translations between systems, and management tools to connect the dots within Indeed’s partner/SaaS ecosystem. 

    You will be empowered to set ambitious goals. Your goals will not be easy to achieve; they should inspire and motivate you and the team to think big. You will not be compensated based on whether you deliver product features, but whether you have delivered significant business impact.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:⁣

    • Collaborate with Product Managers, users and engineers (within and outside the team)  to define, estimate, plan, build, deploy and maintain software systems. End to end ownership of small to midsize software components/features.

    • Proactive participation in team rituals in an agile sprint/kanban based environment. 

    • Proactive contribution and participation in improvement of software systems and team's software development process.

    • ⁣Participate in design and code review and provide actionable input/feedback.

    • Mentor junior / peer engineers to help them grow.

    WHO YOU ARE

    • BS or MS in Computer Science (or equivalent)

    • Experience with reliable, maintainable and testable API/microservices development in Java (or other popular languages). Experience or understanding of frontend technologies is plus but not required.

    • Experience with data modeling and backend data stores, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, or DynamoDB (or similar data stores)

    • Experience and understanding of AWS and/or other cloud based technology  

    • Passionate about DevOps practices. Experience with test and deployment automation.

    • Is a strong team player / collaborator. Willing to help juniors/peers to help them grow.

    • Does not accept the status quo. Always looking for opportunities for individual, team process, technology and product improvements. Speaks up when he/she sees something is wrong with recommendations to make the wrong right.

    • Is excited about  building and validating new and exciting product ideas. Are willing to take calculated risks and pivot when the approach is not working. Does not get emotionally tied to one or more approaches. 

    • Thinks about why something needs to be built, not just what needs to be built.

    • Uses data and facts to make decisions. 

    • Has solid understanding of agile/Iterative development practices. Passionate about DevOps practices. Truly believes that software in this age should not be build without test and deployment automation. 

    • Has solid understanding / working experience on AWS/Cloud Technology.

    SALARY RANGE DISCLAIMER

    The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
