Summary of Co-op

The Software Engineer II in the Research and Development/Engineering Department of the Environmental and Process Monitoring (EPM) business unit is responsible for supporting the design, development and maintenance of analytical instrumentation. The position is responsible for providing Linux software and embedded firmware support for Technology Development (TD), New Product Development (NPD) and sustaining projects. This person will work closely with TD/NPD teams to develop designs and project schedules and will be responsible to design, implement, and test embedded instrument firmware and software within those schedules.

This Co-Op starts in July 2020 and ends in December 2020.

Potential Experiences Available- Application Development in an Embedded Instrumentation Environment

• Linux, C/C++, Python, Bash Scripting, gdb, SNMP, MySQL, Qt, Linux Kernel Upgrades
• Serial (RS232/RS485), I2C and SPI, USB and Ethernet, communications protocols such as TCP/IP and Modbus
• TI MSP-430 Embedded Development using IAR Tools * Jenkins for Devops, Makefile optimization
• Agile Scrum Management - Scrum Master
• Agile Software Development using Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket/Stash/Git integration
• Cloud Development for instrumentation
• Google Test, QEMU * New Software Tool investigation

• Student working towards a degree in Computer Science, Software or Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related engineering field
• Minimum of 3.0 GPA
• Familiarity with the application development in a Linux operating system - C/C++
• Able to read schematics a plus
