    YOUR JOB

    As the Staff Software Engineer of the LogRepo team, you lead the development of Indeed’s distributed event logging system. LogRepo is a high throughput, low latency, resilient system that aggregates events from all of our applications in data centers around the world into one place so the business can analyze them. The LogRepo team is composed of software engineers and QA automation engineers at various levels with support from product and program managers. All of Indeed’s products are built with performance, scalability, and data-driven decision-making in mind. 

    You're someone who wants to see the impact of your work making a difference every day. You understand how to use data to make decisions. You are comfortable guiding others in best practices; focusing on high priority items; and solving, anticipating, and avoiding production issues. You want to take responsibility for the success of product delivery, the quality of the deliverables, and driving process improvements. You like to work with product management to prioritize delivery of features that balance short term results against long-term investment. You are someone who either has built or is passionate about building scalable, reliable systems that span multiple data centers around the world and handle billions of requests every day.

    WHO YOU ARE

    • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field

    • 5+ years of work experience in software development through multiple product cycles and a strong track record of on-time delivery for large, cross-functional projects

    • Significant experience with large scale data pipelines and data lakes (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, presto, and similar)

    • Deep understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, distributed system architecture, parallel programming, and can demonstrate significant prior success as a software engineer who solved complex problems

    • Deep understanding of best engineering practices for the full software development life cycle (SDLC), including coding standards, code review, source control, build, test, deploy, and operations

    • Strong knowledge of databases, both SQL and NoSQL

    • Understanding of measuring reliability through SLAs/SLOs and driving a culture centered on operational metrics

    • Past experience leading and mentoring other engineers

    • Passionate about your work and the problems you solve

    • Ability to work efficiently on a remote/distributed team

    • Experience with architecting cloud applications

    SALARY RANGE DISCLAIMER

    The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees.
