YOUR JOB

As a Staff Software Engineer with the Observability team at Indeed, you will provide hands-on leadership and execution to deliver the observability platform for Indeed’s global infrastructure. As a part of the Observability engineering team you will apply software engineering techniques and discipline to production operations to attack reliability and performance issues to fix them for good. 

You will be designing and implementing solutions to improve observability at Indeed. With this specific focus, your team will be building software systems and tools to improve the collection and visualization of service and business process metrics, SLIs, security issues, etc. They will integrate tracing solutions as well as model dependency relationships across all of our software entities. Your mission will be to make the detection and debugging of Production anomalies both easy and fast. Your team’s systems will be core to dynamic scaling and self-healing, resilient software at Indeed.

WHO YOU ARE

You are comfortable learning new things on the fly and helping others learn unfamiliar systems and technology. You make pragmatic technology decisions to balance scalability, speed to market, and long-term maintainability.

You will collaborate with product teams across the company to identify opportunities for improvement and points of integration with our platform and tools. You will get exposure to new products as they mature on our platform and have an opportunity for impact that extends well beyond the confines of your team. You want to be in the mix technically while providing leadership to your teams.

• Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Mathematics or equivalent field required

• 5+ years experience programming with at least one of the following languages: Java, Go, Python

• 3+ years of experience mentoring more Junior Engineers

• Significant experience with large scale, high-performance systems including service-oriented and event-driven system architectures.

SALARY RANGE DISCLAIMER

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), an open Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
