DATA SCIENTIST- ECONOMETRICIAN
We are looking for an econometrician to help us understand pricing and portfolio strategy at Starbucks. Additionally, we want to understand how our customers value our product, brand, and experience. Questions might include: What is the optimal balance between menu pricing and discount strategy? What are the business tradeoffs across all our delivery channels? How does our current marketing strategy influence our ability to price products? What are the factors that influence elasticity of demand? How should stores be grouped when applying pricing actions? What would a personalized pricing strategy look like from a business and customer perspective? Are there additional revenue drivers that we should be thinking about? What does an optimized product portfolio look like? Etc.
SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM PEOPLE WITH:

MS in Economics, Statistics, Finance, or related field
2-5 years of relevant work experience in econometric modeling and analysis
Ability to build econometric tools that can be applied in automated systems in collaboration with engineers
Experience articulating business questions and using quantitative techniques to arrive at a solution using available data
Experience with R or Python in a production environment
Effective verbal and written communications skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-PhD in Economics, Statistics, Finance, or related field
-Strong background in econometrics (specifically causal inference using panel data)
-Expert in the management, manipulation, and analysis of very large datasets
-Expert in predictive and causal ML methods
-Experience with various statistical methods (frequentist, Bayesian, etc.
-Expert in data querying languages (e.g. SQL) and scripting languages (e.g. Python)
-Proven ability to work in a fast-paced business environment
