    Capital Group is recruiting for an experienced Counsel to join its Litigation Legal team. This is an opportunity to join a prestigious legal department at one of the largest asset managers in the world. Capital Group is an evolving business in a highly regulated environment; this team is involved in guiding decisions that will make a major impact on the business. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting this effort.

    The Legal team is comprised of 29 attorneys, with 22 in the US. It is a highly collaborative group, and the candidate will work closely with the head of litigation in Los Angeles and colleagues globally. The candidate will support the company in the areas of employment and commercial litigation.

    POSITION INFORMATION

    Capital Group is seeking an attorney who is a self-starter to join its team and be energized by the opportunity to work on global litigation matters.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    The Counsel will be responsible for achieving the following goals:

    • Provide support to senior attorney responsible for worldwide litigation, including consultation on litigation strategy and document review.

    • Provide backup and support for senior attorney on array of employment-related issues including advice on employment matters, such as terminations, leaves and internal investigations, draft employment agreements, such as release agreements and review Human Resources policies and procedures.

    • Provide day to day management of outside litigation counsel.

    • Defend depositions, respond to subpoenas and regulatory inquiries, and draft position statements and responses to agency charges.

    • Support implementation of eDiscovery systems, litigation management tools/database and drive operational efficiency.

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of experience at a top ranked law firm and/or in-house. Candidates must have experience with employment law, commercial litigation management (including trial preparation) and eDiscovery, as well as exceptional academic credentials, including a law degree, and admittance to the California bar.

    • Experience with employment litigation.

    • Excellent oral and written communication, analytical, organizational, and strategic thinking skills.

    • Ability to balance legal risks with business objectives and solutions.
