TCW sponsors a summer internship program for undergraduate and graduate students desiring to pursue a career in asset management or a related field. Along with the valuable learning experience the interns gain with their assigned groups, TCW arranges a program of events designed to enhance the summer experience with us. Interns enjoy opportunities to meet directly with some of our senior executives, attend classes/lecture series led by key investment personnel at our firm, and enjoy networking events. The summer intern program typically runs from mid-June through mid-August, a total of 8-10 weeks. Due to the uncertainty around COVID, we will determine the program structure (virtual, onsite, or blended) 1-2 months prior to the start of the summer program. If we proceed with an onsite program, intern candidates will be asked to work from the TCW office where the position is located.

Position Summary

For summer 2021 in our New York office, we have two internship position within our Emerging Markets Equities Group. Working directly with the portfolio management team, the interns will take on separate projects related to developing predictive quantitative models to support the portfolio team’s investment process. One project will focus on assisting with creating an accounting driven stock selection framework to improve our accounting fraud detection capabilities while the other project will be related to mapping out the China biotech space.

We are seeking graduate-level students majoring in finance or accounting with undergraduate backgrounds in accounting, statistics or biology. Ideal candidate must have strong programming skills in Python and/or R as well as experience with handling large data arrays. Knowledge or courses taken in finance/accounting preferred. The candidate must have strong communication skills, strong desire to learn, and a self-starter who can work independently as well as collaborate with the team.
