    The Portfolio Strategy Management (PSM) team is dedicated to delivering Capital Group's investment strategies in our clients' vehicles of choice. The Portfolio Strategy Management capability provides the flexibility of access and customization clients are seeking, whilst delivering end investors with a risk and return profile similar to that of a reference strategy. The Portfolio Strategy Analyst will work independently on mature assignments and under the direct supervision of more senior staff on complex projects, analyses, and tasks. Alongside Portfolio Strategy Managers, the Portfolio Strategy Analyst will execute investment decisions within predefined guidelines established by the Portfolio Strategy Management Capability to adjust the portfolio construction of vehicles as needed.

    Primary responsibilities/essential functions:

    • Vehicle Research, Process Development, and Improvement:

      • Understand the inner workings of the established strategies, quantitative models, the specific environment within which the strategies are implemented, and the core objectives of each of the funds and vehicles.
      • Identify and respond to research questions from the portfolio construction process before and as they arise. Work with the broader PSM capability to identify opportunities for continuously improving the strategies.
      • Evaluate the construction and performance of the replicated vehicle and ensure the strategies are working as expected. Fix and trouble shoot the strategies as needed alongside key partner teams.
      • Participate in broader research questions, design and build-out of the PSM capability in service of driving to continual optimal outcomes for vehicle shareholders.
      • Make recommendations for continuous improvement that are in support of Capital's PSM program - partner with key IO stakeholders and IT on business requirements and implementation.
    • Vehicle Alignment and Monitoring Process:

      • Collaborate with the other members of the team to own and execute portfolio construction for established PSM vehicles.
      • Generate the recommended trade lists for established vehicles.
      • Ensure timely delivery of the decisions, the integrity of the PSM decision making process, quality control, responsiveness to key partners, and the PSM approval process.
      • Interpret output, understand differences, identify causes, and explore alternatives, as necessary.
      • Work with IT partners to maintain the model/data environment and support evolution of decision- making support systems and structures.
      • Work closely with the Portfolios Strategy Specialists , Portfolio Strategy Managers and other parties to resolve the most complex portfolio transition and portfolio construction issues.
      • Participate in weekly Monitoring and Oversight review process and own resolution of the follow up items.
    • Vehicle Growth:

      • Partner with Portfolio Strategy Specialists and key partner teams to enable new investment strategies and product launches.

    Skills/Qualifications:

    • Demonstrates a proficient understanding of investment products, asset allocation, securities operations, and the servicing requirements of accounts.
    • Exhibits passion and experience with investment instruments, markets, and the investment process.
    • Demonstrates sound judgment in resolving matters of complexity.
    • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity, quantitative capability, and excellent analytical and problem- solving skills.
    • Demonstrates initiative by identifying issues and recommending solutions.
    • Demonstrates strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of associates including Investment Group, Trading, IT, Client Groups and Investment Operations.
    • Demonstrates ability to identify, assess, respond to, and escalate risks and issues.
    • Demonstrates ability to work well under tight time constraints with multiple priorities.
    • Demonstrates ability to work independently and as part of a team in a highly collaborative global environment.
    • Demonstrates ability to be self-motivated and take initiative, and a commitment to continuously improve skills and self.
    • Demonstrates ability to be flexible and adaptable.
    • 2-3 years ' experience, preferably in an analytical role.
    • 4-year degree, ideally in a quantitative field (i.e., mathematics, finance, or economics).

    Southern California Base Salary Range: $111,404-$178,246

    In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
