Participate in research, design and engineering of complex quantitative models, tools, applications and platforms that support Investment and Distribution groups to deliver superior, consistent long term investment results. Quantiative Research Technology Group (QRT) amplifies the impact of quantitative research as a core CG competitive advantage. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Participates in research, design, engineering, building, testing and maintaining elements of complex quantitative models
Utilizes knowledge in quantitative methods and tools, data analysis, problem solving, software engineering
Participates in various aspects of research, protype, production processes
Participates in activities related to incubation of quantitative strategies
Helps move models from prototype to production
In partnership with quantitative research groups
Supports research work streams that arise from discussions of more senior associates
Participates in team efforts to provides empirical analysis as requested using historical or simulated data
Participates in team effort to analyze, interpret and visualize data to help users meet reporting and analytical business needs for requests from senior business stakeholders or other technology areas
Develops understanding of capital markets (equity and fixed income), modern portfolio theory, various market data sources and industry portfolio risk models
Learns new technologies and understanding of business areas
Designs and engineers a portion of tactical tools/applications/prototypes
Designs a portion of rich, interactive tools that deliver insights
Participates in development let by more senior associates, that connects models to data sources, interactive UI, scheduling and reporting
Participates in research and evaluaton of various market data and analytics sources and tools
Participates in communication to stakeholders on engineering
Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
CORE REQUIREMENTS:
Background in a quantitative discipline. Master's degree or PhD in mathematics, physics or computer science.
Experience in statistics, data science, machine learning, scientific computing and algorithm development
Software design and programming skills in quantitative langauges (e.g. Python, R, Matlab, Java)
Data analysis, data engineering and visualization skills
General and technical communication skills, with an ability to effectively articulate complex financial and mathematical concepts
Analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and an inclination to validate everything
A genuine interest in investment strategies, risk, equities, fixed income or financial derivatives
Some experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, Spark, Kubernetes
