    The Research Engineering Intern (REI) works closely with our researchers and engineers in analyzing and developing investment ideas and operations solutions.

    The selection of the project considers our business needs as well as the intern’s skills and interests. Sample projects include using machine learning and/or new data in our investment process. Typical responsibilities involve data analysis, software programming, and presentations. The successful intern will gain valuable experience working alongside seasoned quants in a supportive, dynamic work environment.

    The internship will expose the individual to areas such as, but not limited to:

    • Collecting, analyzing and interpreting data
    • Implementing and testing mathematical models
    • Presenting findings and participating in team meetings

    Interns with a minimum of two months of service and a satisfactory internship record at Campbell are eligible for reimbursement of up to 80% of the cost of a certification or additional training, up to a $500 cap, given a final passing grade. The certification or additional training must be related to their field of study and pre-approved by their manager and senior management and must be completed prior to the end of the internship at Campbell. Normal tuition costs are not reimbursable for interns.

  • Qualifications

    Candidates must meet the following required qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Financial Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics)
    • Currently enrolled in an advanced degree program (Master’s or Ph.D.) in a similar field
    • Expertise in at least one common programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C/C++, .NET, MATLAB)
    • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
    • Interest in financial markets and/or quantitative investing
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to succeed in a team-based collaborative environment
    • Effective verbal and written communications skills
    • Self-motivated and possessing a solid work ethic
    • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
    • Strong attention to detail

    Ideal candidates will also have the following qualifications:

    • Prior experience analyzing alternative data for finance applications
    • Experience working with real-world data sets
    • Knowledge in database (e.g., SQL)
    • Experience with open-source projects
    • Experience with finance and/or quantitative investing
