    ROLE SUMMARY:

The Vehicle Flexibility program (VFlex) continues to grow in scope as Capital Group seeks to make our investment services available to a wider range of clients, across multiple geographies and vehicles, than we can reach with the existing American Funds. The intent, as closely as possible, is to replicate fund investment objectives and underlying fund results in the new vehicle, while minimizing the impact to investment professionals in terms of time spent and complexity.

We have a dedicated team of associates in London and Los Angeles who are engaged in building this capability, and we are seeking to augment the team with a Los Angeles based associate who understands Capital’s investment process. Existing knowledge of quantitative financial models or comfort with learning within a quantitative setting is a positive.

The core responsibilities of the Vehicle Flexibility Specialist include:

VEHICLE RESEARCH, PROCESS DEVELOPMENT AND IMPROVEMENT:

    • Understand the inner workings of the strategies, the specific environment within which the strategies are implemented, and the core objectives of each of the funds and vehicles.
    • Identify and respond to research questions from the daily balance process before and as they arise. Work with the broader VFlex team to identify opportunities for continuously improving the strategies.
    • Evaluate the construction and performance of the replicated vehicle and ensure the strategies are working as expected. Fix and trouble shoot the strategies as needed.
    • Participate in broader research questions, design and build-out of the VFlex capability in service of driving to "best execution" for vehicles.
    • Make recommendations for continuous improvement that are in support of Capital’s VFlex program – interactions with IT are regular and continue to provide significant areas for improvement.
    • Maintain and administrate models for vehicles.
    • Support CG strategic product initiatives.

    VEHICLE DAILY PROCESS:

    • Collaborate with the other members of the team to own and execute the daily process for VFlex vehicles.
    • Generate the daily recommended trade lists for all relevant vehicles.
    • Ensure timely delivery of the decisions, the integrity of the operations, quality control, responsiveness to GIC, and the IS approval process.
    • Interpret output, understand differences, identify causes, and explore alternatives, as necessary.
    • Work with IT to maintain the model/data environment and support evolution of decision-making support systems and structures.
    • Work closely with senior PMs and other parties to resolve the most complex portfolio transition and re-balancing issues.
    • Complete the most complex re-blancing tasks across different accounts using various tools, models, and portfolio optimization technique.
    • Desing, implement, and improve workflows and approaches.
