    Latham & Watkins, a leading global law firm, is currently seeking a Knowledge Management Lawyer (“KM Lawyer”) specializing in Financial Services Regulatory to join our London office on a 12 month fixed term contract. The KM Lawyer’s responsibilities include the following:

    • Monitoring current legal and regulatory developments, informing attorneys of these developments and other important events through emails, bulletins, briefings and other appropriate means.
    • Repackaging these developments for clients, authoring client alerts and thought leadership materials, preparing and delivering client seminars, training and general updates, and keeping the Practice Group’s external website up to date.
    • Identifying key developments that are used for the creation of more focused press and public relations campaigns and providing material for the firm’s web site and social media.
    • Supporting the delivery of a broader portfolio of knowledge management services including the collation and organization of know-how and other resources into the knowledge database, the delivery of training and the handling of legal research and enquiries.
    • Playing a central role in the team in terms of coordinating initiatives, keeping up to date with the work of the team, and assisting with input into the team’s strategy.
    • Leveraging attorney involvement in the KM effort, in order to create the highest caliber know-how and to bring market experience to the assets we are producing.
    • Key to this role is the ability to act as a central hub, coordinating efforts across many touch points including fee-earners, other KM Lawyers, business development, public relations, technology and with clients.
    • Although the KM Lawyer is not a fee-earning role, the role is client-facing and will have direct contact with clients from time to time (as appropriate).
    • Subject to the requirements of the Practice Group, the KM Lawyer may upon occasion assist with client-billable work and time may be charged out to clients for those services.

    The successful candidate will have a Bachelor of Law degree or its equivalent, comprehensive practicing experience at a leading international law firm in a financial regulatory practice or equivalent experience with a financial services regulator; extensive substantive knowledge of European and UK financial regulatory law; strong communication skills, alongside the abilities to manage time well and prioritize competing demands.  The role is well suited to candidates who enjoy the intricacies of the law, enjoy writing and taking the creative lead on thought leadership and the production of client-facing updates and products. Previous experience as a Knowledge Management Lawyer (or Professional Support Lawyer) is not required for the role. Additional requirements include advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of programs, including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint; knowledge of Internet and Intranet functionality; high customer service skills; promptly responds to incoming requests and is professional with all patrons; ability to work independently on projects of significant complexity; ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion; ability to show initiative and play a leading role in the development of the team.   • Qualifications
    • Detailed knowledge and expertise of Naval administrative and correspondence policies, instructions and regulations required.
    • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and other database management tools and software, specifically, skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently, attention to detail, and superb customer interaction
    • Experience using Navy and DoD travel processes and online systems and Naval message writing software
    • Candidate must have an active security clearance and be able to obtain a CAC
