    Job Description

    To enable Guardant Health to fight cancer through data, the minimal residual disease (MRD) detection bioinformatics team is seeking a highly motivated Summer Intern – Bioinformatics to join our team to improve free text clinical data parsing and examine the correlations between clinical metadata and detected genomic/epigenomic signals.     At Guardant Health, you will be at the forefront of combining molecular biology with machine learning and software to improve patient care. You will interact with a diverse team of bioinformaticians, biologists, and software engineers to develop software and analyze data in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop methods to automate parsing of free-text clinical data
    • Learn how Guardant detects genomic and epigenomic signal from a blood test
    • Analyze correlation between clinical metadata and various sample features
    • Participate in technical discussions
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Experience writing Python
    • Familiar with relational databases and SQL
    • Some understanding of cancer genomics and molecular biology
    • Experience with natural language processing is a plus

    EDUCATION: 

    Students close to or recently completing BS, MS in Bioinformatics, CS, or a related field with some programming experience.
