    Job Description

    Are you a Health Economics & Outcomes Research/HEOR professional who enjoys working on data, outcomes, and evidence creation of innovative technologies? Reporting to the Director of Outcomes and Evidence, the Health Economist will support the Guardant INFORM program – a world-class clinical genomic dataset.  The successful applicant will have outcomes research and/or health economics background and will support the development of evidence across the spectrum of observational prospective and retrospective research, modelling, generation of novel scientific contributions to the field and academic publishing.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    ·      Contribute to cross-functional team with responsibility for ensuring the successful development and deployment of observational research in Guardant INFORM

    ·      Contribute to protocol development and operational execution of prospective and retrospective observational research

    ·      Able to analyze large datasets within standard statistical software packages and prepare materials for presentation to specialist and generalist audiences

    ·      Experience in health economic modelling is preferred

    ·      To contribute to the preparation and critique of academic scientific publications

    ·      To engage with key opinion leaders (clinical, regulatory, and other) in a variety of settings both individually and as part of a team

    ·      Able to adapt to novel methodological approaches to outcomes research in a rapidly advancing field of study

    ·      Able to attend conferences and onsite meetings and up to 10% travel required.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • At least a Master’s degree in the relevant field of study (health economics, decision sciences, economics, operational research, statistics, mathematics, epidemiology, or other relevant)
    • Experience in hands-on programming and doing analytical research in a collaborative team/environment. 
    • Solid training in cost-effectiveness analyses; proficient in Treeage and/or Crystal ball for decision modeling; hands-on project experience in the decision tree and Markov modeling; knowledge and experience with dynamic modeling are preferred but not required. 
    • Strong capability in mining large databases. Experience with large payer/claim data and/or EMR is required.
    • Proficient in R, SAS and/or STATA (certification is desired). Strong skills in descriptive analysis and multivariate modeling. Key statistical programming skills include linear regression, logistic regression, survival analyses, and propensity score matching. Strong skills in graphic interfaces. 
    • Outstanding ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Enjoy collaborative work; a natural team worker but also can work independently. 
    • Evidence of original scientific contribution to the field of health economics and/or outcomes research
    • Software skills include Treeage, Excel, R and SAS.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Doctorate Degrees in Health Economics, Epidemiology, Outcomes Research, Health Services Research, Pharmacy Administration.  
    • 3+ years of relevant professional experience in biopharmaceuticals, biotechnology companies or payer environment is desired
    • Rich project experience in: developing economic models and conducting observational research e.g. in claims data; PRO/HRQOL research including questionnaire design, evaluation, and/or analysis; economic modeling, statistical analysis, and observational research
    • Advanced SAS programming certification
    • Highly self-motivated, hardworking, and have intuition on conducting research; able to execute high quality HEOR projects and get them published in top tier journals.

    Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
