    Job Description

    To enable Guardant Health to fight cancer through data, the Enterprise Software Team is seeking a highly motivated SUMMER INTERN – SOFTWARE ENGINEER to join our team to Improve and enhance LIMS software to support patient care. At Guardant, we leverage the most advanced technologies and work with leaders in many different fields to create the most impactful and meaningful technologies for cancer management.

    At Guardant Health, you will be at the forefront of combining personalized medicine with IT innovations to improve patient care. You will interact with a diverse team of biologists, data engineers, and software engineers to develop software in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Working under the supervision of Senior LIMS Engineers, you will:
    • Evaluate usability of our LIMS software;
    • Develop new features to meet user requirements;
    • Develop test automation to increase code quality;
    • Present updates orally, write reports and updates, and participate in technical discussions.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Completed Coursework in Computer Science, or Bioinformatics
    • Some experience in Object oriented programming, SQL, DevOps functions, or Technical support.
    • Experience with Linux and comfort in terminal is a plus
    • Knowledge in life science is a plus

    EDUCATION: 

    Students close to or recently completing BS, MS in CS/EE, Bioinformatics, or a related field with some programming experience.

    Additional Information

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Employee may frequently exert up to 20-50 pounds of force to push or lift equipment
    • This position requires standing/walking/crawling regularly

    Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment.  Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment.  Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
