    Job Description

    To support Guardant Health in its mission of conquering cancer through data, the Public Affairs team is seeking a highly motivated Summer Intern to help us support a variety of activities in our growing department which consists of Government Affairs, Patient Advocacy and Corporate Communications. Collectively, we focused on generating greater awareness of the company’s work to advance precision oncology at all stages of the disease. At Guardant Health, we are dedicated to helping patients across the cancer care continuum live longer, healthier lives. 

    As a member of the team, you will be at the forefront of telling our story to external audiences in line with our objectives and company milestones achieved. You will be responsible for managing public affairs projects, writing content for briefing documents, social media and web, and help us monitor and report on key public policy issues impacting Guardant Health at the federal and state level. You will interact with the entire public affairs team in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Bring a can-do attitude to support and manage a diversity of projects in a fast-paced environment
    • Developing a legislative tracker for monitoring Federal public policy items that impact company and state-specific information for oncology legislative efforts on access to biomarker testing
    • Assist patient advocacy team in planning around Cancer Awareness Month activities
    • Support internal and executive communications initiatives
    • Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and tools to improve the effectiveness of our communications efforts
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Completed Coursework in a related field (e.g. English, Political Science, Public Health, and/or Marketing/Communications) 
    • Firm grasp of social media tools and platforms 
    • Must have good working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
    • Previous internship/related experience in public policy or communications a plus
    • Interest in precision oncology, cancer care, or advocacy

     

    EDUCATION:  

    Students pursuing or recently completing BS or MS in English, Political Science, Advertising, Marketing

    Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
