Job Description

To support Guardant Health in its mission of conquering cancer through data, the Corporate Communications team is seeking a highly motivated Summer Intern to help us implement communications plans that generate greater awareness of the company’s work to advance precision oncology at all stages of the disease. As a member of the team, you will be at the forefront of telling our story to external audiences in line with our objectives and company milestones achieved. You will be responsible for managing corporate communications projects, writing content for briefing documents, social media and web, and help us monitor and report against performance metrics. You will interact with the corporate communications team, external public relations and creative services agency partners, in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Bring a can-do attitude to support and manage a diversity of projects in a fast-paced environment
• Participate in discussions with media relations agency to develop and execute pitch ideas that are timely and relevant in current news cycle
• Assist in planning, writing, and managing media briefing documents, pitches, and content updates across various digital, social, and traditional channels
• Help us better manage our project trackers to achieve greater efficiencies
• Assist in monitoring and reporting performance metrics across various corporate communications channels and initiatives
• Support internal and executive communications initiatives
• Assist in exploring speaking, award, and media opportunities for the company
• Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and tools to improve the effectiveness of our communications efforts

Qualifications

• Completed Coursework in a related field (e.g. English, Advertising or Public Relations, Marketing/Communications)
• Firm grasp of social media tools and platforms
• Must have good working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
• Adobe InDesign, website content, and graphic design a plus
• Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications a plus
• Interest in precision oncology, cancer care, or healthcare a plus

EDUCATION: 

Students pursuing or recently completing BS or MS in Communications, English, Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing. Juniors and graduating seniors strongly encouraged to apply.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Employee may frequently exert up to 20-50 pounds of force to push or lift equipment
• This position requires standing/walking/crawling regularly

Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment.  Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment.  Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
