    Job Description

    The primary role of the Clinical Oncology Specialist (COS) is to educate and support physicians in a designated region with the most current study findings (abstracts and publications) supporting the clinical value of Guardant Health’s product(s). As a COS, you will seek opportunities to engage with physicians to review real-world cases and provide support on genomics in oncology, precision medicine, and interpretation of Guardant Health test report(s). You will to promote understanding and adoption of our novel diagnostic technologies to our current and future customers.

    This role requires a candidate that is collaborative in nature and can work cross functionally with Medical Affairs, Sales, Marketing, and Managed Care. For the greatest success, you are excited and motivated by accelerating the advancement of patient care.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Primary roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

     Clinical Support and Education

    ·      Present independently and support product adoption to clients, with support from Sales and Marketing

    ·      Proactively be a resource for physicians to evaluate and provide guidance on interpretation of real-world patient test reports, especially for those healthcare providers with limited experience with our product reports through various activities, not limited to - one on one interactions, tumor board / grand round presentations, case reviews

    ·      Educate key staff regarding emerging abstracts and publications relevant to molecular testing

    ·      Execute on a strategic plan for managing client interactions within the field

    ·      Support clinical requests for information related to institutional guidelines or pathways

    Local/ Regional Key Opinion Leader (KOL) Development

    ·      Identify, develop and/or maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with key physicians and regional/local KOLs to promote understanding and adoption of our novel diagnostic technologies

    ·      Facilitate opportunities for the Marketing, Sales and Medical Affairs teams to partner with KOLs for focus groups, PR events, working meetings and scientific forums

    Sales Education/Training

    ·      Be available as a resource to field-based Sales team both formally and informally for questions regarding the products and/or the current state of medical care

     QUALIFICATIONS

    ·      Master’s degree or clinical equivalent in a scientific field of study such as genetic counseling, nursing, pharmacy, medicine, or related health sciences field

    ·      Clinical expertise or related experience in Oncology is highly desirable.

    ·      Minimum of 1-2 years of healthcare experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry preferred, but not required.

    ·      Experience working with clinicians to build consensus around new products and/or broadening indications for current products

    ·      Track record of independent presentation at major academic centers or within the community setting resulting in product adoption

    ·      Prior experience in the introduction of a novel new clinical product is highly desired

    ADDITIONAL SKILLS

    ·      Applies advanced knowledge of the biotechnology, diagnostics and pharmaceutical industry

    ·      Ability to apply advanced knowledge of company product specifications

    ·      Intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of the following computer software programs: Microsoft Office: PowerPoint, Excel, and Word

    ·      Ability to work independently and remotely while maintaining a strong teamwork ethic

    ·      Multi-dimensional in abilities to work on simultaneous tasks, work cross-team and at different levels of the organization, whether internal or external relationships to the organization

    ·      Self-directed, intrinsically motivated, flexible to changes in an ever-changing dynamic environment

    ·      Strong problem-solving skills, good attention to detail, time management skills and personal initiative

    ·      Exceptional human relations skills to coordinate the accomplishment of tasks through other people

    ·      Outstanding oral presentation skills

    ·      Ability to elicit and answer clinical questions in groups ranging from individuals to larger didactic roundtables and meetings

    ·      Excellent proofreading skills, with the ability to proof for proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting of documents

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    ·       Extensive travel required up to 3-4 days/overnights per week to meet with KOLs, attend physician education talks and conference, including specialty society scientific meetings (will require some weekend work). Travel is estimated to be approximately 75%

    ·       Office may be home-based, and involves extensive use of computer and keyboard while in home office
