As the global outbreak of COVID-19 continues to unfold, Latham has taken precautions to help protect our people, clients, and the communities where we live and work. The Lead Distressed Debt Analyst will likely start remotely while the firm continues to evaluate the situation.
The Lead Distressed Debt Analyst will receive a generous total compensation package. Bonuses are awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance. As a Lead Distressed Debt Analyst at Latham, you will support the firm by using your experience with corporate distressed debt, high yield credit, and restructuring/special situations to play an integral part in supporting our rapidly growing Restructuring & Special Situations (RSS) Practice. Latham’s global RSS practice is recognized as one of the elite global practices for its robust capabilities and innovative counsel in representing corporations, banks, creditors’ committees, institutional and distressed investors and other parties on workouts, restructurings, and bankruptcy cases from middle market businesses to the largest multi-national enterprises.
Working closely with our RSS practice group leadership, you will lead the effort to identify and
monitor market opportunities including creditor and debtor-side restructurings, corporate opportunities
across stressed/distressed corporate bonds, high yield credit, and bank loans, and distressed
mergers & acquisitions. You will research, analyze, summarize key financial statistics, and
present findings related to these market opportunities to RSS leadership and proactively monitor the
portfolio of potential targets. Additionally, you will provide lead support on other financial
projects as requested by our RSS practice group leadership, while accomplishing these and other critical functions:
As a Lead Distressed Debt Analyst, you will be expected to apply your organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. The successful Analyst must have demonstrated the ability to think creatively and provide strategic support to senior management, strong financial modeling, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. The successful candidate must exercise good judgment and communicate effectively. The Analyst must have possess strong project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines in a time-sensitive and high-pressure environment. The ideal candidate will have the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion, and will be highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Bloomberg and CapIQ.
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or a related field is required. Financial investment industry qualification (CFA) is a plus. A minimum of three (3) years of related analytical experience in finance, restructuring or distressed debt analysis is desired. Experience at a professional services organization is preferred.
