    The US Lateral Associate Recruiting Manager will receive a generous total compensation package. Bonuses are awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance.     As a US Lateral Associate Recruiting Manager at Latham, you will develop and implement an associate recruitment strategy for the US.  The Manager will optimize the Firm’s hiring methodology, market presence, and core relationships, maximizing the Firm’s ability to recruit the highest caliber of candidates.

     

    As well as reporting to the Director of Associate Recruiting, you will work closely with attorney recruiting and development managers in each of the US offices, local recruiting committees, and the global recruiting committee.  The Manager will also be in broader communication as appropriate at local and global levels. The responsibilities and critical functions of the Manager include:

     

    • Working closely with the local office recruiting managers to assist with the development and implementation of a strategy around the Firm’s lateral hiring capability.

    • Implementing such strategy by means of market mapping research, client-sourced intelligence, and external consultancies.

    • Taking ownership of, and further developing, key lateral recruiting programs and strategic initiatives.

    • Working with the recruitment industry to position Latham & Watkins at the leading edge of strategic growth and innovative recruiting solutions, which deliver commercial value.

    • Acting as an internal resource to feed pipelines and talent gaps pro-actively to local office recruiting managers and partners.

    • Managing the overall relationship with search and contingent recruiters with respect to lateral recruitment, including negotiating terms and conditions of business and ensuring that fee rates remain competitive.

    • Interfacing with lateral partner hiring team and other internal teams to collaborate and share best practices on market intelligence and talent.

    • Liaising with candidates at the initial stages of the recruitment process, making connections to local office recruiting managers and attorneys, and helping oversee the sell strategy.

    • Utilizing alumni connections and developing intelligence internally that allows Latham to understand the talent marketplace.

    • Preparing and communicating statistics, marketing / advertising / informational materials and progress reports, as well as working in partnership with Brand and Communications colleagues on lateral hiring profiles and websites

     

    As a Manager, you will be expected to apply your organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. The successful Manager must have well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the Firm, along with the ability to develop and maintain a courteous, professional, and effective working relationship with clients consultants, and other representatives of the Firm. The Manager will have strong communication skills, both written and oral, and be able to work in a team environment with a customer service focus. The ideal candidate will have the ability to perceive and analyze complex problems, and a capacity to make or recommend sound decisions. The Manager will be able to undertake large, long-term projects, develop alternative methods to complete them, and implement solutions, as well as the ability to use independent judgement and discretion when making the majority of decisions.

     

    A bachelor’s degree is required, and a JD/MBA is valued. A minimum of five (5) years of recruiting experience is required. Occasional travel is also required.
