In addition, employees receive 10 paid holidays per year, and a PTO program that accrues 23 days during the first year of employment and grows with tenure.  As a Compliance and Ethics Analyst, you will work within Latham’s Office of the General Counsel and provide administrative, research, and analytical support for the multiple compliance programs administered.  Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: engagement terms and waiver management and review, ethics wall administration, and other compliance-related business functions.  Other responsibilities will also include:

    • Managing the general administration of the firm’s ethics wall and insider list software and compliance-related new business intake functions; serving as the initial point of contact for ethics wall-related inquiries from attorneys and staff
    • Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of firm policies and procedures - formal and informal - regarding ethics wall implementation; advising attorneys and staff on ethics wall requirements and best practices
    • Advising requestors on structuring of ethics wall restrictions and drafts Ethics Wall Memos (EWMs) at the request of attorneys or Office of the General Counsel personnel; implementing walls in security software
    • Liaising with the Technology Department on maintenance and troubleshooting of the ethics wall and insider list security software; participating in the development and testing of new or upgraded software and associated workflows
    • Supporting engagement letter collection and policy enforcement and related tasks associated with the administration of the new business intake process and support of the Client Intake Committee, including analysis of engagement and waiver letters and other terms of engagement with clients
    • Providing coverage of department functions during regular work hours, after-hours, and weekends as needed to ensure seamless global coverage
    • Supporting project requests from the Deputy General Counsel, Compliance and Ethics Attorneys, Ethics Committee, Client Intake Committee, and others as needed
    • Promoting effective work practices, working as a team member, and showing respect for co-workers

    A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, with at least one year of relevant experience in a law firm desired. A Paralegal Certificate, Masters of Library Science degree or its equivalent, or J.D. degree is preferred. The Analyst should have well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, an advanced ability to effectively interface with attorneys, management, support staff and outside contacts.
