As the global outbreak of COVID-19 continues to unfold, Latham has taken precautions to help protect our people, clients, and the communities where we live and work. The Litigation Services Attorney will receive a generous total compensation package. Bonuses are awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance. As a Litigation Services Attorney, you will be responsible for providing high level legal analysis with respect to complex procedural and strategic issues in state and federal court, reviewing filings as to form and procedural content, preparing procedural road maps for upcoming court filings, and advising members of the Litigation & Trial Department on all matters of court rules, civil procedure, filing protocol, and the calculation of deadlines. You will assist in reviewing, approving, serving, and transmitting filings to courts and government agencies, calculating and calendaring all applicable deadlines, performing legal research and analysis in a wide range of jurisdictions, and leveraging technology to streamline the monitoring and distribution of court filings. The Litigation Services Attorney will also assist with mentoring and training new attorneys and staff while accomplishing these and other critical functions:
As a Litigation Services Attorney, you will be expected to apply your organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. The successful Litigation Services Attorney must have an ability to articulate complex court rules and calendaring issues in a comprehensible, accurate, confident, and concise manner. The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate an advanced knowledge of applicable court rules and procedures and applies court rules in multiple jurisdictions quickly, efficiently, and in a manner which instils confidence and ensures risk management.
There is an expectation that the above-referenced duties will be performed not only during business hours, but also during off hours and weekends, as circumstances dictate. Frequent e-mail monitoring and a quick response time are necessary in this fast-paced office setting, where customer service is paramount.
A J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school is required, as well as current bar admission in the state of California. A minimum of three (3) to four (4) years of experience as a practicing litigation attorney and/or attorney in a Docket/Calendar/Litigation Services environment is desired.
